Most pushbuttons you will find in the stores or in other online webshops, are only rated for 3A or 5Ampere. In a 12V or 24V system, this is not much. Not much at all! 

For example:
the 2 navigational lights in your bow and your anchor light can already draw 3ampere!
Your bilge pump (if its pumping water) will draw over 5Ampere for sure!
Your horn (even small ones) can draw over 5 ampere easily

Those pushbuttons are not meant to be used in boats, RV's or other vehicles, except if you are using external relays or a PLC to control your electronics. If you exceed the rated current of the switch, they can and will create dangerous situations! 

NorTide specifically selected its switches for the marine application and its heavy duty electronics. Our switches are rated up to 20Ampere! At 12V, that is 200Watts!
